7.62 x 25 mm TT

The 7.62 x 25 mm TT is a bottle-necked pistol cartridge widely used in Soviet and satellite states.
Design
The cartridge design was basically improved upon by the Soviets from the .30 Mauser, the Soviet cartridges being loaded to higher pressures.
It is becoming increasingly popular to custom load 7.62x25 with .30 caliber sabot rounds with .22 caliber 55gr. bullets -- this is known as .224 TIMMS. Muzzle velocities in excess of 2200 FPS have been obtained with this method. These speeds are seldom obtained with a handgun; usually, the longer barrel of a rifle is required.
Beware of firing military surplus ammo headstamped "* 10 52 3" (reading clockwise). There have been reports that these rounds were manufactured improperly, and could result in damage to the gun and injury to the shooter.
Some firearms that use this round are the Tokarev TT-33, the CZ-52, and the PPSh submachine gun.
