Forward Observation Officer

A forward observation officer, or FOO (pronounced /fuː/), is an artillery officer who accompanies other ground units to provide and co-ordinate artillery and other fire support.
The term is used in the British and Canadian armies. The equivalent U.S. term is forward observer (FO).
