Abortion clinic

An abortion clinic is a medical facility providing certain kinds of outpatient medical care, including abortions, to women. Such clinics may be free clinics, public medical centers or private medical practices.

Planned Parenthood, whose clinics offer abortions as well as other reproductive care and counseling, is a major operator of abortion clinics in the United States.

Attacks on abortion clinics

Abortion clinics are frequently targets of protests and demonstrations by Pro-Life activists, and abortion providers are sometimes the target of illegal or violent actions. Between 1977 and 1994, there were 1,700 acts of violence against abortion providers in the United States, including five murders. There were 167 attacks on abortion clinics in the past fifteen years, including 18 bombings in 1984 alone.
