Alternativa Sociale

Politics of Italy

Alternativa Sociale is an Italian far right political party. The party grew from Libertà di Azione, which was established by Alessandra Mussolini after she left the Alleanza Nazionale due to their attempts to move away from their Fascist past. Mussolini united her group with the Fronte Sociale Nazionale and Forza Nuova (led by Roberto Fiore) for the European Parliament election, 2004, gaining one seat in the European Parliament. The group is committed to a strong Italian nationalism that celebrates and glorifies its past and has been particularly critical of Gianfranco Fini's modernisation of the right.
