Arrifes
Arrifes is a parish in the district of Ponta Delgada in the Azores. The population in 2001 is 6,941, its density is 274.7/km² and the area is 25.27 km². It is located in the western part of the island of São Miguel and is connected by roads linking to Capelas and Ribeira Grande. The mountains which are covered with lovely trees are to the west while fertile lands covers the rest of Arrifes. The main industry are agriculture. Farmlands dominate the north and east while the mountainous areas cover the rest of Capelas. Arrifes is one of the few parishes that are landlocked. The main source of production is agriculture and is also the milk-producing region of the Azores. Milk factories are also located in Arrifes.
