Marathon Ashland Petroleum
Marathon Ashland Petroleum is a US based petroleum corporation. It was formed in 1998 from a merger of the downstream operations of Ashland Chemical and Marathon Oil. Its corporate headquarters are in Findlay, Ohio.
Marathon Oil Company owns 62% percent, while Ashland, Inc. owns 38% of this venture.
Subsidiaries include the Speedway SuperAmerica chain of gas stations. They also own seven refineries and several pipelines.
As of 2005, Gary Heminger is the President of the company.
Pending shareholder and debt-holder approval, MAP is set to become fully owned by Marathon Oil on 1 July, 2005, and renamed Marathon Petroleum Company.
