Aversa is a town in southern Italy, about 12 kilometres north of Naples. It is the centre of an agricultural district producing wine and cheese (famous the typical buffalo mozzarella). It's also the main seat of the faculties of Architecture and Engineering of the Seconda universitā degli studi di Napoli (second university of Naples).

In 1027, it was given to the Normans; and Robert Guiscard built the fortification and had the bishopric of Atella transferred here.
