Bangash

Bangash is a Pashtun Tribe. They mostly live in District Kohat and major popular villages and Towns namely Tirah, Obbatal, Darsamand, Hangu, Toghbala and Toraori of N.W.F.P of Pakistan. Even Bangash are great in numbers in India esp in Farukkh Abad and some in Mazandan the province of Iran. The Nawab of Farukkh Abad was from the Bangash Tribe till 1801 when the power was transferred to Britishers. They speak Pashto through out the region.

BANGASH, a small tribe of Pathans in the Kohat district of the North-West Frontier Province of India. They occupy the hills between Thal and Kohat, and number 3000 fighting men. Formerly they owned the whole of Kurram, but owing to the encroachments of the Turis, they moved eastwards, dispossessed the Orakzais, drove them north and took their territory in the Kohat district, which they now occupy to the west of the Khattak country.
