Bigfoot was the first monster truck, a modified Ford F250 pickup truck. First built in the late 1970s by Bob Chandler, it is still the one of the most popular of the monster trucks. It has been featured on countless television programs, and in the 1981 film, Take This Job and Shove It. It was the first monster truck to make a paid appearance in 1979. In 1981, Chandler decided to try driving over cars, and it was an instant success. From there the monster truck industry has grown to a multi-billion dollar industry in 2005.
