Bread Loaf Writers' Conference

The Bread Loaf Writers' Conference is the oldest writer's conference in the United States. It was founded in 1926 and held every summer in Middlebury, Vermont.

Noted authors who have been associated with the conference over the years include Robert Frost, John Gardner, Charles Baxter, John Irving, Shirley Jackson, Robert Clark Young, May Sarton, John Ciardi, Toni Morrison, Norman Mailer, and Barry Lopez.
