Briton

The term Briton may have the following meanings:

• In an historical context:
  1. The indigenous inhabitants of Great Britain in pre-Roman time.
  2. Their descendants in Roman Britain and the period up to the Norman Conquest (referring to Celtic people, as opposed to Romans or Anglo-Saxons).
• In a modern context (sometimes shortened to 'Brit'):
  1. A resident and/or citizen of the United Kingdom.
  2. A person indigenous to Great Britain.
