The Burghley Horse Trials is an annual three day event held at Burghley House in England. Burghley is classified by the FEI as one of the four leading three day events in the world. It has competition at both the CI*** (three star) level and the CI**** (four star) level. The prize for first place is currently 40,000 European Dollars. Prize money is given down to 12th place.

History
Horse trials began being held at Burghley House in 1961 when its owner heard that another three day event could no longer be held at its usual site. Since then Burghley has hosted many international championship competitions.
