Cheshire moon

A Cheshire Moon, Dry Moon, or Wet Moon is a crescent moon, when the horns of the crescent point up, away from the horizon. This happens at the beginning of every lunation, around sunset, and again at the end of every lunation, around sunrise. It is called a Cheshire moon as a reference to the Cheshire cat of Lewis Carrolls writings.
