Cid (Final Fantasy)
In Final Fantasy games, there is oftentimes appears a character called Cid, who provides transportation (usually in the form of an airship) to the main characters and their party members at various points of the game.

Final Fantasy games
- Final Fantasy I
- Note: Cid is not mentioned in the original English translation of the game as released for the Nintendo Entertainment System. He is mentioned, however, in the subsequent rereleases on the Sony PlayStation (Final Fantasy Origins) and the Game Boy Advance (Final Fantasy I & II: Dawn of Souls).
- Cid does not appear, per se, but is mentioned in the village of Onrac as being the ancient Lufenian responsible for the construction of the airship you discover during the course of the game.
- Final Fantasy II
- Note: This is not the game originally marketed as Final Fantasy II in the USA: that refers to Final Fantasy IV. In the US, this can only be found on the Sony PlayStation compilation Final Fantasy Origins and the Game Boy Advance compilation Final Fantasy I & II: Dawn of Souls.
- Cid appears as a non-playable character in Final Fantasy II.
- Final Fantasy III
- Note: Never released in the US, Nintendo has announced that a port of this game will be coming to the US on the Nintendo DS.
- Again in Final Fantasy III, Cid Haze makes an appearance as a non-playable character.
- Final Fantasy IV
- Note: Final Fantasy IV was released as Final Fantasy II in the USA.
- Cid Pollendina is a friend to Cecil Harvey, the main character of the story. He is the chief engineer of a group called the Red Wings, a playable character, and provider of transportation on his airship throughout the game.
- Final Fantasy V/Final Fantasy: Legend of the Crystals
- Cid Previa was an inventor and a scholar. He designed Karnak's machinery and, along with his nephew Mid, helps your party uncover a lost airship. Years after the event of FF5, after his death, Cid's brain was stolen by Ra Devil to be used in the villian's plans.
- Final Fantasy VI
- Cid del Norte Marguez was a research scientist for the Empire (he helped design MagiTek armor, and also leads the research on Magicite). He will eventually aid the heroes in their escape from Vector.
- Final Fantasy VII/Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children
- Cid Highwind is a playable character who uses a spear in battle. His history tells us that he wanted to be the first man in space (he was a great pilot), and was also an inventor: he invented airships such as the Highwind itself. He made a cameo in the Kingdom Hearts game series.
- Final Fantasy VIII
- Cid Kramer is the head of the Garden system (the system being Balamb Garden, Galbadia Garden, and Traia Garden). He is also the husband of the Sorceress Edea.
- Final Fantasy IX
- Cid Fabool IX rules over the city-state of Lindblum in Final Fantasy IX. He is, unsurprisingly, an airship inventor, and his kingdom is home to the greatest airship fleet on the planet.
- Final Fantasy X/Final Fantasy X-2
- Cid was the leader of the Al Bhed, father of Rikku & her brother. He's also the uncle of Yuna on her mother's side. He provides transportation to Yuna & her Guardians, even taking them into Sin for their final battle. During the Eternal Calm, Cid had a few issue with the changes occurring in Spira. He even had a fallout with his kids. He discovered an ancient airship at the beginning of Final Fantasy X and uses it to help the party travel.
- Final Fantasy XI
- Although Final Fantasy XI is an online game and the story is not quite set in stone, you can still find Cid in the world of Vana'diel. A member of the Hume race, he owns a lab in the city of Bastok, and is involved in a few of the quests and missions given to citizens of Bastok.
- Final Fantasy Tactics
- Cidolfas Orlandu is a playable character in this game, also known as 'Thunder God Cid'.
- Final Fantasy Tactics Advance
- The battlefield of Ivalice is controlled by laws and the Judges, and Cid Randell is the JudgeMaster, the leader of all Judges. In the town of St. Ivalice, he is Mewt's father who became a drunk when his wife died. But when the Grand Grimore turned Mewt's dreams into reality, Cid became Judgemaster and the husband of Queen Remedi, a human-represention of the Grimore itself in the form of Mewt's mother. Cid eventually remembers the truth and breaks off from the palace to aid Marche in his travels.

- Kingdom Hearts
- Cid Highwind can be is found in Traverse Town with Leon/ Squall, Aerith, and Yuffie Kisaragi. He is an expert on Gummi ships (the Kingdom Hearts answer to airships) and will sell Gummis and aid Sora with different modifications and models for his ship.
- Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within
- The only notable connection to any other part of the Final Fantasy franchise in Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within is found in Dr. Sid, the mentor of main character Aki Ross.
- Final Fantasy: Unlimited
- The Cid of this series is the youngest. He's is an eccentric inventor who is a vital member of the Comodeen. He built most of the vehicles and devices in the series, marking all of them with his seal and giving them each a woman's name. Normally polite and gentle, he flies into rage whenever any of his beloved inventions is even slightly damaged. Like all the others, he too has invented an airship. He had a relationship with fellow Comodeen member Miles.
- Chocobo's Dungeon 2
- In this game, Cid is an outcast inventor who is not trusted by the people in the nearby town. He's rather gruff, but is willing to help Chocobo on his quest. He gets quite angry when people insult his machines. He is only playable to a second player who joins the game, otherwise he follows Chocobo around the dungeons and fights of his own accord.
