Civil unions in Andorra

Andorra recognized same-sex couples since March 2005. Both coprinces of Andorra already have signed the law of the new Penal Code, after the controversy by the abortion, and thus they have notified it officially to Sindicature. This means that as soon as it is published in the Government reporter of the Principality of Andora will take effect a new penal regime. The Law of the "stable unions of coupels", however, also will take effect, but without the company/signature of the episcopal coprince, the bishop of Urgell, Joan Enric. The coprinces are of undivided way the Chiefs of State and a single company/signature is sufficient to sanction, to promulgate the laws and to order the publication in the Principality of Andorra.The law that, was approved of unanimous way in the Council 22 of February the last, will take effect within the anticipated terms, that is to say, of imminent way, but only with the company/signature of coprince Jacques Chirac.

Of this form, stable unions of coupels will see compared their rights with the marriages and the Government will be three days old to create the Registry of Stable Unions of Pair, to which the pairs will be able to be registered freely that demonstrate a lasting coexistence.
