An Item in the Myst Series that has the power to transport its user into another world [or more noted, the world described in the book] The book consists of what you would normally find in a regular book. An ink medium, a paper inside, and a cardboard-like or wooden -based binding. However, the ink is made of a mix of special chemicals designed to implement objects and flora and fauna into the world or Age as its called through the book. To make an age, you would need great skill in the creation of a book. The creation of an age needs a very precise description of the world. The rectangle in the front or back of the book is the linking panel. The panel usually shows a fly-around or animated picture, but sometimes it shows a static, one-view picture of the age. It is not known if this is true, but the panel is actually made of a sort of energy. If an age is written improperly, it can lead to disaster. However, as shown in the game Riven, very slight changes can be made to the age to stop the rate of decay. If an age is written differently to stop the age's decay, then you change the age that you are transporting to. In other words, the age you link to is not the same age as before. This was shown to be true in Myst: The Book of Atrus.
