Dean Radin

Dean Radin is Senior Scientist and Laboratory Director at the Institute of Noetic Sciences, in Petaluma, California, USA.

Dr. Radin earned a doctorate in educational psychology from the University of Illinois, Champaign, a masters degree in electrical engineering, also from the U of I, and an undergraduate degree in electrical engineering from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. His primary interests in graduate school were artificial intelligence, cybernetics, and consciousness studies.

He worked at AT&T Bell Labs and GTE Labs for a decade, mainly focusing on human factors of advanced telecommunications products and services. He was awarded three special merit awards for his industrial work. For nearly two decades he held appointments (sequentially, not simultaneously) at Princeton University, Edinburgh University, University of Nevada, SRI International, Interval Research Corporation, and Boundary Institute. At these facilities he was engaged in basic research on exceptional human capacities, principally psi phenomena.

He served as President of the Parapsychological Association, a AAAS-affiliate, in 1988, 1993 and 1998, and will serve as President-Elect in 2005. He also served on the Board of Directors of the Society for Scientific Exploration for many years.

He has presented nearly 100 invited talks for academic, technical and popular audiences around the world, and written over 200 popular and technical articles, a dozen book chapters, and a popular book, "The Conscious Universe" (1997, Harpercollins). He is presently (August 2004) writing a new book, aiming for publication in 2005.
