Epping with is double faced track
Epping is a CityRail railway station on Sydney's Main Northern railway line. It serves the suburb of Epping, a significant commercial and residential area. Epping is currently the western terminus of the Epping to Chatswood Line and so is undergoing reconstruction.
History
Epping, briefly called Carlingford, is not an original station on the Main Northern line. The opportunity was taken to build it as an island platform. Later, a terminating platform was added. This terminating platform had two unusual features
- it was located in the centre of the main lines.
- the centre terminating track had a platform face on either side.
- the centre track later on had one platform face fenced off.
Accessibility
The station has lifts giving it Easy Access for wheelchairs.
