European Bank for Reconstruction and Development

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) was founded in 1991 to promote private and entrepreneurial initiatives in the countries of central and eastern Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).

Current German president Horst Köhler was president of the EBRD from 1998 to 2000. Since 2000, the president of the EBRD has been Jean Lemierre. The bank is headquartered in London.
