Faimalaga Luka

Faimalaga Luka (born 1940) is a former Governor-General and former Prime Minister of Tuvalu.

He was a broadcaster and politician, serving in roles including Minister for Health, Minister of Home Affairs (from 1999) and from February 2000 Prime Minister. He lost a vote of no confidence in 2001 and was forced to resign as prime minister. He was appointed Governor General in September 2003. He retired in April 2005 after reaching his 65th birthday. Tuvalu, unlike most countries, has a mandatory retirement age for all civil servants. He was succeeded as governor-general by Filoimea Telito.
