Fanny Cochrane Smith

Fanny Cochrane Smith, (ca. 1834 - 1905) was a Tasmanian Aboriginal, the first to be born on after relocation of Tasmania's indigenous population to Wybalenna, Flinders Island.

She went on to have 11 children, and a large percentage of the present aboriginal community in Tasmania are decendents of her.

She is well known for her wax cylinder recordings of Aboriginal songs, which consist of the only audio recordings of a indigenous Tasmanian language
