Frogner Manor 1842, by J.C. Dahl, for Benjamin Wegner
Frogner Manor (Frogner Hovedgaard) is a manor located in an area that became part of Oslo in 1878, todays borough of Frogner.
The manor was bought by Bernt Anker, Norways richest person at the time, in 1790, who also extended the main buildings. The manor was bought by Director General of the Modums Blaafarveværk, Jacob Benjamin Wegner, in 1836.
The major parts of the fields belonging to the manor was built up through the end of the 19th century, but a park of around one square kilometer, todays Frognerparken, remained. The Vigeland Sculpture Park now occupies large portions of this park.
The main buildings are still intact, and are now the home of the Oslo City Museum.
