George Clerk
Sir George Clerk, 6th Baronet (19 November 1787-23 December 1867), was a British politician.
He was Member of Parliament for Edinburghshire from 1811 to 1820 and again from 1838-1847, and then for Dover from 1847 to 1852. He served as one of the Commissioners of Weights and Measures, 1818 to 1821; a Lord of the Admiralty, 1819 to 1827 and again 1828 to 1830, and a member of the Council of the Lord High Admiral (The Duke of Clarence) 1827 to 1828; Under-Secretary of State for the Home Department, 5 August to 22 November 1830; Parliamentary Secretary to the Treasury, 1834 to 1835; Financial Secretary to the Treasury, 1841 to 1845; Vice-President of the Board of Trade, 1845 to 1846.
