Group action (sociology)

Group action in sociology refers to the situations where large number of people in a given area behave simoultanesly in similar way with have a similar goal, and their actions are and coordinated.

Group action will likely take place when various individuals realise that they are more likely to achieve their goal when acting togehter rather then individually. A special form of a group action is a social movement.

Group action differs from group behaviours which are uncoordinated, and from mass actions which are more limited in place.
