Haifa Bat Galim Central Bus Station

The Haifa Bat Galim Central Bus Station was until January 1, 2002 the only central bus station in Haifa, Israel. It is named after the neighborhood of Bat Galim. Up until that point, it served all Egged intercity bus routes orginating and terminating in Haifa as well as most local routes. It is an old station in use for about 30 years. All the bus platforms were outdoors. There is also an upper level where buses sometimes discharged passengers. There is a building that had stores and restaurants. It is not enclosed. There is also a tower above the station. On one side of the building, buses discharged people on the lower level. On the other side of the building, people would board buses on the lower level. That is the side where buses would discharge passengers on the upper level.

On January 1, 2002, the new Mifratz Central Bus Station opened. Since then, all buses coming from the North and the Galilee terminated at the new station and new more frequent lines operated between the 2 stations. Sometime late in 2003, the Haifa Hof HaCarmel Central Bus Station opened. All bus lines coming from the South terminate there and the Haifa Bat Galim Central Bus Station is now only a stop between the two other stations. People can get a free transfer when buying their ticket to continue from one central bus station to the other one. All three central bus stations have local lines within the city of Haifa as well.

The Haifa Bat Galim Central Bus Station is connected to the Haifa Bat Galim Train Station by a tunnel. Right now, the Haifa Bat Galim Central Bus Station is only opened on one side and the side with the departing bus platforms, stores, and restaurants is now closed.
