Harry K. Daghlian, Jr., (1921-September 15, 1945), was a scientist who died from performing a critical mass experiment at the remote Omega Site laboratory at the Manhattan Project Los Alamos laboratory in New Mexico, on August 21, 1945. Daghlian was irradiated as a result of a criticality accident which occurred when he accidentally dropped a tungsten carbide brick onto a plutonium bomb core. The tungsten bricks were being used as neutron reflectors, which serve to reduce the mass required for plutonium to be critical, and the accidental addition of this brick caused the reaction to go supercritical.

Daghlian died less than a month later from acute radiation sickness.

On May 20, 2000, Daghlian was memorialized by the city of New London, Connecticut.
