Henry Augustus Rowland

Henry Augustus Rowland (18481901) was a U.S. physicist. He served as the first president of the American Physical Society between 1899 and 1901.

He authored 'A Plea for Pure Science',and important document for the understanding of the relationship between science in university and in commercial contexts in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century.
