High-definition
Generally, high-definition refers to an increase in resolution or clarity
- High-definition television
- Historically, the phrase "high-definition television" referred to any significant increase in resolution. NTSC was once considered high-definition, as were other formats.
- In the modern sense, such as in the ATSC and ISDB formats.
- The HD Radio name for iBiquity's digital radio system is often expanded to "high-definition radio" (unnecessarily, some would argue)
