HotWired

HotWired was the first commercial web magazine, launching on October 27, 1994. The web site to Wired magazine, it covered technology culture.

HotWired broke new ground when it started offering content sponsored by advertisers. The first advertiser, who used an ad banner, was AT&T, which was promoting future innovation under the "You will" ad campaign.

The site launched shortly before PathFinder, Time magazine's commercial web content offering, and featured web-based threaded discussions. As the site aged, a number of projects and sites were published under the HotWired banner, including HotBot, Suck, and Webmonkey. A number of innovative web content models were incubated at HotWired; but the site never had its own traction.
