Industrial rock

Industrial Rock is a style of Rock and roll that has long had a public association with industrial music, although this association is often disputed by industrial musicians and critics. The style ranges from an eclectic electronic sound which includes experimental or "unmusical" sounds such pioneered by early industrial music artists to straightforward rock bands whose only concession to an "industrial" influence is the addition of synthesizers or drum machines.

While not considered industrial music by many who perceive excessive commercial and pop influences, industrial rock acts were once commonplace within industrial magazines, on industrial music compilations, and as opening acts at industrial concerts. For these reasons, it is common for popular media to refer to these acts as 'industrial', or for these acts to use the term 'industrial' in their promotional material. However, their popularity is much greater in the mainstream than it is with hardcore fans of "industrial" culture.
