Jane Roe and Richard Roe

Jane Roe and Richard Roe come from the United States legal tradition of pseudonyms for anonymous litigants. An unnamed plaintiff will be named "Roe" as in the famous abortion rights case, "Roe v. Wade", which legalized abortion in the United States.

Anonymous defendants are typically known as John Doe or Jane Doe.
