John Boyd (ambassador)

Sir John Dixon Ikle Boyd KCMG (born 1936) has been the master of Churchill College, Cambridge since 1996. From 1992 to 1996 he was also the British ambassador to Japan.

Sir John has several high-profile positions, including chairman of the British Museum and served as a non-executive director for British Nuclear Fuels plc (BNFL) between 1997 and 2000.

Japan connection


Sir John retains a strong interest in Japan, and wrote the introduction to Japanese Students at Cambridge University in the Meiji Era, 1868-1912: Pioneers for the Modernization of Japan [1], by Noboru Koyama, translated by Ian Ruxton, (Lulu Press, September 2004, ISBN 1411612566).
