Kuril-Kamchatka Trench

The Kuril-Kamchatka Trench or Kuril Trench is an oceanic trench with a maximum depth of 10500 m (34000 ft).

The trench formed as a result of the subduction zone that created the Kuril Islands island arc. The Pacific Plate is subducted beneath the Okhotsk Plate, resulting in intense volcanism.
