Kyoto Purple Sanga is a soccer club with an emphatic fanbase. It was relegated from the J. League in 2004 despite having many national team players on their payroll. Star names such as Teruaki Kurobe, and Daisuke Matsui have since left for greener pastures. Nevertheless, due to the size of the club, they are widely tipped to re-enter the J-league sooner rather than later.
