Low Desert

The low desert is a name for the Sonoran Desert to distinguish it from the adjacent Mojave Desert or high desert. Joshua Tree National Park straddles both deserts. In Southern California, the low desert is the area surrounding Palm Springs, Rancho Mirage, California, Palm Desert, Borrego Springs, Indian Wells, Cathedral City and Indio in the Coachella Valley.
