Malay Singaporean

The term Malay Singaporeans refers to Singaporeans of Malay descent. They currently constitute 13.9% of the country's population.

Most Malay Singaporeans are descended from an amalgam of Indonesian tribes, Chinese, Indian and Arab immigrants, and to a lesser extent, European and Thai immigrants, mainly due to the fact that the Malays are very liberal with intermarriage, provided that the Bride or the Groom is willing to convert to Islam.
