Media whore
Media whore is a pejorative term used to describe two categories of persons:
- those of limited notability who go out of their way to gain the attention of various media outlets, namely reality television personalities.
- those who use their access to such outlets to promote a particular commercial or ideological message.
In the area of news reporting, the term is used to describe ideologues who lie and obfuscate for themselves, others, or their cause out of sincere devotion to their beliefs, and mercenaries who engage in the same conduct as services rendered in exchange for money or favors. Michael Moore and Ann Coulter are two examples of people who have been accused of being media whores.
