Monsieur Eek is a novel by David Ives. It refers to life in MacOongsafooden, in 1609. It is about a monkey who gets arrested for being a French spy. The book was recommeded by Lemony Snicket, best-selling author of the "Series of Unfortunate Events" books. He said, "I couldn't put the book down." The book is based on a real law in medieval times, allowing animals to be convicted of crimes.

Look Carefully to See

The about the author is very similar to that of Lemony Snicket's illustrator.

There is a character called, "Luigi, the carpenter's wife." In the original Mario and Luigi game, Luigi was a carpenter.

Ending

Eek the chimp ends up being accused guilty. However, he is rescued and not hanged. MacOongsafooden's population starts to rapidly rise.
