Cook Bay on Moorea

Moorea is a high island in French Polynesia, sister to Tahiti, lying 17 kilometers (roughly 9mi) away. Several ferries go to Moorea daily, from the port of Papeete, an average trip of forty-five minutes.

Don the Beachcomber lived here for some time until his houseboat was destroyed by hurricanes.

Moorea actually means "yellow lizard", a name expounded-upon in and many local legends. An older name for the island is Aimeo.
