Nepali rock

The music of Nepal includes several popular rock and roll bands, including 1974 A.D., who have toured the United States and United Kingdom, the folky Nepathya with Gautam Gurung (best-remembered for "Chekyo Chhekyo"), Robin N Looza and the long-running Cobweb. There has also been a surge in local heavy-metal bands with the emergence of numerous bands like Nastik, X-mantra and Albatross.

The city of Darjeeling (in West Bengal) is a musical center for Nepali rock. From the 1960s to the 80s, the ciy was home to a vibrant musical scene. Late in the 80s, however, with the Ghorkaland movement's spread, the city's music scene declined. It has since resurged, with a new wave of bands like Mantra.
