Orne River

The Orne is a river in Normandy, north-western France. It flows through the cities Argentan and Caen. It flows out into the English Channel at the port of Ouistreham. A tributary is the river Odon. The département of Orne has taken its name from the river. The Orne formed the Eastern flank of the Allied landings at Normandy during World War II on June 6 1944.
