Otto Binder
Otto Binder (August 26, 1911 - October 14, 1974) was an American science fiction author and comic book writer. He is best known for his twelve-year stint at Fawcett Comics from 1941 to 1953, writing stories the adventures of Captain Marvel and his Marvel Family, Bulletman and Bulletgirl, and many other Fawcett superheroes. He is also the co-creator, with Marc Swayze and C.C. Beck, of spin-off chracters such as Mary Marvel and Black Adam.
After Fawcett shut down its comic book franchise in 1953, Binder went on to write for Marvel Comics, DC Comics (who later bough Captain Marvel from Fawcett), Gold Key, and Quality Comics. He was a native of Bessemer, Michigan, and died in Chestertown, New York.
