Panhellenion

The Panhellenion or Panhellenium (Greek: "All Greece") was an organization established in the year 125 by the Roman Emperor Hadrian while he was touring the Roman provinces of Greece. Hadrian had an extreme fondness of Greek culture, and the Panhellenion was his attempt to strengthen the Greeks under his domain. All the cities in modern-day Greece, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Epirus, and western Turkey sent representatives to the Panhellenion, which acted as a combination of regional alliance and parliament. Through the Panhellenion, the cities were to govern themselves; however, between Roman suspicion and (moreso) fighting between the delegates, the Panhellenion did not survive Hadrian's death.
