Paraventricular nucleus

The paraventricular nucleus is a nucleus of mostly magnocellular neurosecretory cells in the hypothalamus, their axons extend into posterior pituitary. The cell bodies produce oxytocin which is transported down the axons and released in the posterior pituitary.
