Plays Unpleasant
Plays Unpleasant is a book of three comedies by playwright George Bernard Shaw: Widowers' Houses, Mrs. Warren's Profession, and The Philanderer. All three plays caused scandals when they were first written, and some were not performed for many years after they were published in 1898.
The plays raise issues that shocked the Victorians: the earning of money through immoral means, prostitution, promiscuity, the role of women, and other themes.
Shaw also published Plays Pleasant, a book of less controversial comedies.
