Established in 1968 from unprotected land as well as small portions of existing state parks, Redwood National Park is a United States National Park on the northern coast of California between Eureka and Crescent City. In 1994 it entered a cooperative managment agreement with three California state parks, Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park, Del Norte Coast Redwoods State Park, Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park, which together with Redwood National Park comprise 45 percent of all the old-growth Coast Redwood forest remaining in California and much restored forest territory as well. The park area is an International Biosphere Reserve and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The park has several scenic drives and miles of hiking trails. The park averages 400,000 visitors per year.
