Singularity Institute for Artificial Intelligence

The Singularity Institute for Artificial Intelligence is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit organization whose mission statement is as follows:

SIAI was founded for the pursuit of ethically enhanced cognition by creating Friendly AI. We expect the ethical and significant enhancement of cognition will help solve contemporary challenges – disease and illness, poverty and hunger – more readily than other charitable pursuits.

Personnel include Tyler Emerson, its Executive Director, and Eliezer Yudkowsky, its chief researcher.
