The Bodyguard is the soundtrack from the movie of the same name, released on November 8, 1992 on Arista Records and features five songs by Whitney Houston, as well as songs from various other noted artists of the time; the album was produced by Babyface. The soundtrack later went on to win a Grammy for "Best Album of the Year" and is 17 times platinum.

Hits

The album is most notable for Whitney Houston's cover of I Will Always Love You, originally recorded by Dolly Parton. The song received wide airplay, appealing to the R&B, Adult Contemporary and Soul radio markets. The single spent 14 weeks at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 a record at the time, which was not broken until 1996 when Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men's "One Sweet Day" spent 16 weeks at the top. The strength of the single helped The Bodyguard sustain the #1 spot on the Billboard 200 for 20 weeks.

Though not as memorable or record-breaking, the album also featured the minor hits "I Have Nothing", "I'm Every Woman" (a Chaka Khan cover), "Run To You", and "Queen of the Night", all also sung by Houston. Despite the other filler tracks on the album, and the score piece by Alan Silvestri, the album is generally included as part of Houston's discography. The success of the hit songs and the album revitalized her career, as her most recent album "I'm Your Baby Tonight" was a critical and commercial flop.
