The Demented Cartoon Movie
The Demented Cartoon Movie is a popular flash animation cartoon created by Brian Kendall. As its title may suggest, the cartoon is both praised and criticized for its rather senseless and "demented" style of humor.
This cartoon is well known and popular for its general absurdity and complete lack of any central plot. It is set in the fictional town of Qrrbrbirlbel. Most of it consists simply of random scenes where the characters either get blown up by nuclear explosions (the Earth explodes 14 times in this cartoon) or end up in some other kind of misfortunate event such as being smashed by weights or getting their heads kicked off. It seems to be a satire on the excess of gratuitous violence that is common in many children's cartoons such as Tom and Jerry and Animaniacs. Unlike most other flash animations, The Demented Cartoon Movie is literally designed to resemble a motion picture movie, complete with satirical previews, title screens, and credits. The cartoon is also often criticized for its tedious length (It is approximately 30 minutes, which is unusually long for a flash video). To compensate for the problem of length, the video has pause, rewinding, and fast-forwarding options, and even allows the viewer to skip chapters of the cartoon.
A similar flash movie, The Greatest Present Ever, is also by Brian Kendall. It is much like The Demented Cartoon Movie in its style of humor. However, this piece is much shorter, lasting only a few seconds long.
Main Characters
- Blah Guys - stick figures whose heads tend to explode when they yell out "Blah!"
- Bloing Gloing - a bowling pin-shaped Blah Guy with an umbrella; can only speak "Bloing-Gloingish"
- Shoe - a shoe on a stick that repeatedly appears to kick off the heads of Blah Guys
- Mr. Big Shoe - an inanimate giant shoe that likes to smash Blah Guys
- Mr. Weight - an inanimate weight that also likes to smash Blah Guys, along with Mr. Big Shoe. Hates Boing Gloing.
- Fooby the Kamikaze Watermelon - Just as his name suggests, a watermelon who commits suicide by crashing into walls kamikaze style to a fanfare (often at very inopportune moments)
- Zeeky H. Bomb - a psychotic bomb who has a nasty tendency of exclaiming "Zeeky Boogy Doog!" (which causes an explosion on a nuclear scale)
- Super Blah - the good, yet rather incompetent superhero who battles Evil Blah
- Evil Blah - the evil and equally incompetent villain of the cartoon; he hates his own theme music which he finds very annoying.
- Crazy Scientist Blah - sidekick of Evil Blah; when he speaks it sounds like his voice is randomly sped up and slowed down.
- Random H-Bomb - bombs with the letter "h" on them; may have a fuse
- Juliet - the character that plays Juliet in the local Qrrbrbirlbel production of Romeo and Juliet. She's extremely psychotic and likes to blow up Romeo with H-bombs.
- Romeo - A deep-voiced gentleman who plays Romeo. He's usually created by the Auto-Romeo Maker
- The Director - The director of Romeo and Juliet. He wears a beret and has a goatee that twitches back and forth as he speaks. He's very irritable about how Juliet repeatedly blows up Romeo.
- The Damsel - A nondescript screaming damsel that Evil Blah captures simply because a villain needs a damsel. Her head often pops off when she screams too loud, forcing Evil Blah to make another one with the Auto Damsel Maker!.
- Superblah's Fans - A group of small Blahs that follow Super Blah around everywhere he goes to cheer him on.
- The Auto Makers - Whenever a character blows up that still had something to do, one of the other characters brings out an Auto Maker, which is a grey box on wheels that creates another character with a "Poof". The Auto Makers are extremely unreliable and usually break down after two or three uses. There are two Makers in the movie, the "Auto Romeo Maker!", used by The Director, and the "Auto Damsel Maker!", used by Evil Blah.
- The Easy Chair Blahs - Two Blahs sit in easy chairs and watch the Demented Cartoon Movie from their television, and wonder why things that happen in the Demented Cartoon Movie happen. They are usually very discontented with it. They last the longest of any of the Blahs in the movie.
- The Rocket Blahs - These two Blahs are determined to find out why "Zeeky Boogy Doog!" causes nuclear explosions (or as they call them, "The Zeeky Words") by going to Mars in a rocket ship. Unfortunately, their rocket crashes ten times in ten different ways before they get to Mars.
- !!!!!!!!!! - The "!!!!!!!!!" launches a nuclear bomb every time anyone says "Zeeky Boogy Doog!". The Rocket Blahs destroy it, but that doesn't fix the "Zeeky Boogy Doog!" problem.
- The Weird Evil Machine Thing of Doom - This is a machine owned by Evil Blah that is important to his evil plans, but seemingly doesn't do anything except shake around and make a strange noise. Later, it's discovered that it spews harmless green goop everywhere.
Phrases
- "Blah" - When said, it randomly blows a blah guy's head off
- "Zeeky boogy Doog" - Nuclear explosion happens when spoken and it only happens when Zeeky H Bomb is around.
- "Gleeg snag zip!" - Only stated twice, but causes the Earth to explode.
