Trenchless construction or trenchless technology refers to a construction method that includes tunneling, microtunneling, horizontal directional drilling, pipe ramming, slip lining, jack and bore and other methods for installation, repair and rehabiliation of pipelines and cables below the ground. Large diameter tunnels such a those constructed by a tunnel boring machine (TBM), drill-and-blast are larger versions of trenchless construction.
